Tellmetric vs Keitaro for Telegram funnels

Keitaro is one of the best-known trackers among media buyers, and many Telegram funnels already run through it. This page compares what each tool does when the conversion happens inside Telegram, where Keitaro is the stronger choice, and how the two can work together.

The short answer

Keitaro is a general-purpose ad tracker that you install on your own server. It routes traffic, tests landing pages, imports costs and sends conversions back to traffic sources, for any kind of offer. Tellmetric is narrower: it watches what happens in Telegram (group and channel joins, messages to your bot, Telegram Stars payments) and ties each of those to the ad click, then reports them to the ad platforms server-side. Keitaro does not observe Telegram on its own; it needs something to tell it that a join happened. Tellmetric does not route traffic or host landing pages. If you already run Keitaro, the two fit together rather than replace each other.

Competitor details below come from Keitaro's own website and documentation as checked in October 2026. Products and prices change, so confirm anything important on their site.

What Keitaro is

Keitaro's documentation states that a VPS or VDS is required to install and run it, and gives server sizes by traffic volume, starting at 4 GB of RAM and 2 CPUs for under 100,000 clicks a day. You rent and maintain that server yourself, which gives you full control over the data and the setup.

Its documented features include campaign flows with A/B routing, a landing page editor, a server-to-server postback endpoint that accepts a click id (subid), a status, a payout, a currency and a transaction id, and integrations with ad platforms. According to Keitaro's documentation, the Facebook integration sends conversions to Meta through the Conversions API when an fbclid is present, along with fbc, fbp, IP address and user agent. The TikTok integration imports costs and sends conversions hourly; the Google Ads integration imports costs every 12 hours and sends conversions every 6 hours when a gclid is present.

At the time of writing (October 2026), Keitaro's pricing page lists three plans with the yearly option selected: Starter at €40 a month (1 user, 1 domain), Advanced at €72 (1 user, 100 domains) and Expert at €104 (up to 5 users, 500 domains). The server is a separate cost.

What Tellmetric is

Tellmetric is a hosted service; there is no server to install. You connect a Telegram bot, create tracking links, and connect the ad platforms you report to. When someone clicks a join link, the bot gives them a single-use invite link created for that click, and when Telegram tells the bot the link was used, the join is matched to the click exactly. Join requests are approved automatically and attributed the same way. Messages to your bot, Telegram Stars payments and Mini App actions are attributed through the click too, and deposits on your own platform arrive through a postback, the event API or a hosted confirmation form.

Conversions go to Meta through the Conversions API on every plan. Pro (€49 a month) adds TikTok, Snapchat, Reddit, Spotify and Google Ads, plus match quality, country and cohort reports. Free includes 1,000 tracked users a month; Pro includes 25,000; Agency (€249 a month) has no cap and adds a white-label domain and five workspaces.

Where Keitaro is the stronger choice

  • Traffic distribution. Routing visitors between landing pages and offers by rule, and splitting traffic for tests, is what Keitaro is built for. Tellmetric sends every click on a link to the same destination.
  • Many offers and traffic sources. If most of your volume does not end in Telegram, a general tracker covers all of it in one place.
  • Cost data from several platforms. Keitaro documents cost import from Facebook, TikTok and Google Ads. Tellmetric imports spend from Meta only.
  • Control of the infrastructure. With Keitaro the server and the database are yours. Some teams require that.
  • Domains at scale. The higher Keitaro plans include hundreds of domains. Tellmetric links use the Tellmetric domain, or one custom domain on Agency.

Where Tellmetric is the stronger choice

  • The Telegram step itself. A tracker records the click and whatever is reported back to it. The join happens inside the Telegram app, where neither a tracker nor a pixel can see it. Tellmetric's bot is the observer: it issues the invite link, receives the join and links it to the click without you writing code.
  • Identity across later events. The Telegram user id is hashed and sent as external_id, together with the original click's fbc, IP address and user agent, so a deposit days later carries the same identity as the join Meta already saw.
  • Telegram-native outcomes. Stars payments, Mini App actions and members leaving (recorded in your reports, never sent as conversions) come with the bot connection.
  • No server to run. Nothing to patch, size or monitor.
  • Delivery checks. Events are checked before sending; events older than Meta's seven-day limit, unsupported currencies and non-browser user agents are set aside individually so they do not fail a whole batch, and temporary errors are retried.

Using both

Many teams keep Keitaro as the main tracker and add Tellmetric for the Telegram step. Two connections make that work:

  1. Keitaro to Tellmetric. Tellmetric's postback endpoint speaks the same grammar as tracker postbacks (clickid, status, payout, currency, txid), and the developer settings include a ready-made Keitaro postback URL. Statuses such as reg, dep, ftd and sale become conversion events (a deposit reaches Meta as a Purchase with its value); refund and chargeback are recorded but never sent as conversions.
  2. Tellmetric to Keitaro. Pass Keitaro's click id to your Tellmetric link as sub1 (links keep sub1 to sub9), then set Tellmetric's outbound postback to Keitaro's postback URL using the {sub1}, {status} and {payout} placeholders. Every join, message and deposit Tellmetric records then also appears in Keitaro, and failed calls are retried for up to 12 hours. Keitaro's documentation explains how to map incoming status values to its own conversion types.

Decide which tool sends conversions to each ad platform. If Keitaro and Tellmetric both report the same deposit to Meta under different event ids, Meta counts it twice.

Which one to choose

  • Most traffic ends in Telegram and you have no tracker yet: Tellmetric alone covers the click, the join, the conversation and the deposit.
  • You already run Keitaro and some funnels end in Telegram: keep Keitaro and add Tellmetric for the Telegram step, connected with postbacks both ways.
  • You need routing, landing page tests and many traffic sources, and Telegram is a small share: Keitaro, with your own bot sending join postbacks if you have the development time.

Frequently asked

Can Keitaro track Telegram joins by itself?

We found no Telegram feature in Keitaro's documentation at the time of writing. Keitaro records conversions it receives by postback, so a join reaches it only if something that sees the join, such as your own bot or Tellmetric's outbound postback, sends one.

Do I need a landing page for Tellmetric?

No. An ad can point straight at a Tellmetric link. If you do use a page, one script tag tracks every Telegram button on it.

Is there a free way to try Tellmetric?

Yes. The Free plan needs no card and includes Meta reporting for 1,000 tracked users a month.
