Telegram conversion tracking for Meta ads

Meta records the click. Tellmetric records what happens afterwards in Telegram, matches each conversion to the ad and reports it back so the campaign can optimise.

The default situation

Once a user leaves your ad for Telegram, the ad platform can no longer follow them and cannot distinguish a join from a bounce. Campaigns are therefore optimised for clicks, the audience shifts towards people who click without engaging, and cost per result rises even while cost per click appears stable.

What Tellmetric tracks

  • Clicks on join, bot, offer and deep links, with fbclid, UTM parameters and sub-IDs stored
  • Joins to groups and channels, matched to one click through a single-use invite link
  • Bot starts and DMs to your admin bot, matched through the deep link
  • Payments in Telegram Stars and events from Mini Apps
  • Deposits and FTDs reported by your platform via postback or the event API

What happens with each conversion

Each conversion is stored in your workspace with the full attribution of its click, shown in the dashboard's funnel and cohort views, and delivered to Meta through the Conversions API as a standard event with fbc, hashed identifiers and a deduplication ID. On the Pro plan the same event can also be sent to TikTok, Snapchat, Reddit, Spotify and Google Ads.

Illustrative example

Campaign "Signals NL" with 1,340 clicks: 812 people joined the group, 96 wrote to the admin bot and 27 deposited a total of €3,240. Meta received 812 CompleteRegistration, 96 Contact and 27 Purchase events, each carrying the originating click. With these events available, the campaign goal can be changed from link clicks to Purchase.

What changes for advertisers

  • Cost per member and cost per deposit replace cost per click as the working metrics
  • Meta can build audiences from people who converted
  • Conversion columns in Ads Manager reflect Telegram outcomes
  • Coverage is visible: match quality shows how much of your data the platform can use
