Meta ads Telegram tracking, from click to deposit

See which Facebook and Instagram campaigns produce Telegram members and depositors, and let Meta optimise for those outcomes rather than for clicks.

The visibility gap

Meta's reporting ends where Telegram begins. A campaign with 3,000 clicks and 40 depositors appears identical to one with 3,000 clicks and none. Both are evaluated on cost per click, and the algorithm scales whichever produces lower-cost clicks.

What tracking provides

  • Attribution to the creative. Every join, DM and deposit carries the campaign, ad set and ad it came from, plus any sub-ids you pass.
  • Actual conversion counts. The dashboard shows Telegram outcomes rather than proxy events such as landing page views.
  • Campaign comparison. A funnel table per campaign shows clicks, joins, DMs, deposits and value side by side.
  • Reporting to Meta. Each outcome is delivered to the Conversions API as a standard event so the campaign can optimise for it.

Why advertisers combine Meta with Telegram

Meta provides targeting. Telegram provides attention: there is no feed ranking, open rates are high, and messages reach a person's notifications directly. Trading and crypto communities, real estate lead generation, coaching programmes and e-commerce VIP channels all use this combination. What they typically lack is a way to tell Meta which audience converts.

Illustrative example

Illustrative figures. A broad interest audience and a lookalike audience built from past depositors each receive €600. The broad audience produces 1,900 clicks and 41 deposits; the lookalike produces 1,100 clicks and 63 deposits. On cost per click, the broad audience performs considerably better. On cost per deposit, the lookalike is 40% cheaper. Once Purchase events are reported to Meta, the campaign has the signal it needs to optimise towards the audience that deposits.

How the setup works

  • The ad's destination is a tracking link that stores the fbclid, UTMs and sub-ids and redirects into Telegram
  • A bot deep link or single-use invite ties the Telegram action to that click
  • The bot records joins, DMs and Stars payments; deposits are reported by postback
  • Events are delivered to Meta with fbc, hashed identifiers and deduplication ids

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a Meta Pixel?

You need a dataset (pixel) ID and a Conversions API token from Events Manager. No browser pixel code is required.

Will the events appear in Ads Manager?

Yes. Delivered events appear in Events Manager, can be selected as conversion goals and are reported in campaign columns.

Can I test before going live?

Yes. Set a test event code in the workspace, and events appear in the Test Events tab without affecting live data.

Are other ad platforms supported?

Yes. On the Pro plan, the same events can be delivered to TikTok, Snapchat, Reddit, Spotify and Google Ads.
