Telegram bot analytics by traffic source

Telegram reports how many people started your bot. It does not report which ad brought them or what they did next. Tellmetric provides that layer.

What Telegram's own statistics omit

Telegram's bot statistics are a running total of users with little further detail. When you pay for that growth, the total is the least useful figure. You need to know which campaign, creative and audience each new user came from, and whether they went on to send a message, make a payment or deposit.

What Tellmetric records for a bot

  • Attributed starts. Each start carries the click ID from the deep link, so it is linked to a campaign, ad set, creative and any sub-IDs.
  • Conversations. A message to your admin bot is recorded as a DM event and attributed to the same click.
  • Payments. Telegram Stars purchases inside the bot are recorded as Purchase events with their value.
  • Mini App activity. Events from a Mini App are verified with Telegram's signed initData and attributed to the user's click.
  • Downstream deposits. Postbacks from your platform attach revenue to the bot user who generated it.

Reading the dashboard

A funnel table shows starts, DMs and deposits by campaign. Weekly cohorts show the revenue generated to date by users who arrived in each week. A match quality panel shows the share of events that carry the identifiers ad platforms use for matching. A recent events feed shows the click ID behind each row.

Decisions this supports

  • Pause creatives that produce starts but no conversations
  • Scale audiences whose users deposit within the first week
  • Compare ad platforms on cost per bot start and cost per deposit
  • Report bot growth to clients by source rather than as a single figure

Typical users

  • Information product sellers delivering content through a bot
  • Coaches qualifying leads through conversation
  • Community operators who control access to a private group with a bot
  • Agencies managing several client bots across workspaces

Frequently asked

Do I need to change my bot?

You connect the bot token to a workspace. Tellmetric handles the deep link start parameter and the events. Your bot's own logic is unchanged.

Can it track a bot built with a no-code builder?

Yes, provided the bot token can be connected. Starts and payments are observed through the Telegram Bot API.

What about users who arrive organically?

They are recorded as well, either attributed to the link they used or marked as unattributed, so your coverage is reported accurately.

Are these events sent to Meta?

Yes. Starts, DMs and payments are delivered to the Meta Conversions API as standard events. On Pro they can also be sent to TikTok, Snapchat, Reddit, Spotify and Google Ads.
